Time flies when you’re having fun.

Hey!

Wow, I can’t believe I haven’t written a post in months. Well, life has been crazy! My classes last semester were crazy and required all of my free time. I was taking a class called Nutrient Metabolism that was amazing but REALLY intense. The class was all about how the different nutrients break down in your body and the mechanisms involved. I think I ate, slept, dreamed, and talked Nutrient Metabolism. Oh, and along with that class I also had French, Shakespeare, and Biochemistry to worry about too. It was a challenging semester but I persevered and got through it! Hard work really does pay off.

So, now I am taking three classes this semester. The classes are Medical Nutrition Therapy, Advanced Community Nutrition, and Clinical Dietetics. I LOVE every single one of them. They are all so interesting to me in their own way. In my clinical dietetics class lab section, I get to counsel patients about their diet at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center on the cardiac floor. I am learning a TON  being put in the real-world situations.

Then, in Medical Nutrition Therapy I am learning all about the ways to treat diseases with nutrition therapy and determining tube feeding formulas. My professor is amazing and is preparing us to be able to work in the top medical centers across the country.

Advanced Community Nutrition is another really fun class where I get to intern at a site in the community. I was placed at Marblehead Community Charter School where I am working with the food service director. This site is a public charter school with 4th-8th graders. I will be able to create my own nutrition focused classes that include cooking classes, nutrition lessons, and lessons out in their own garden. It is going to be so much fun working with these kids!

My goal is to post at least once a week to talk about what has been happening and to share the recipes I try out with the kids and recipes made with a new addition to the house…. A Vitamix! Eeek I’m so excited to be able to cook up a storm with that!

Well, that’s my life in a nutshell. I look forward to posting more soon! Also more pictures! 🙂
